Deploy in Teams
TeamsPIM is a third-party app in the Microsoft Teams store, published by Xertone. For your users to get it, your Teams settings must allow it. This is standard Teams app governance, done by a Teams administrator in the Teams admin center. TeamsPIM itself has nothing to configure here.
1. Allow TeamsPIM for your users
Section titled “1. Allow TeamsPIM for your users”Make sure TeamsPIM is allowed for the people you license:
- If your organisation uses app permission policies, allow third-party apps, or allow TeamsPIM specifically, in the policy that applies to those users. The path is Teams apps > Permission policies. See Use app permission policies to control user access to apps.
- If your organisation has moved to app centric management, set TeamsPIM’s availability to everyone or to the users and groups you license. See Use app centric management to manage access to apps.
In both cases, TeamsPIM must also be allowed at the organisation level (org-wide app settings for third-party apps, and the app’s own status on Teams apps > Manage apps). See Overview of app management and governance in Teams admin center.
2. Optionally pin TeamsPIM
Section titled “2. Optionally pin TeamsPIM”To put TeamsPIM on your users’ Teams app bar, add it to an app setup policy under Teams apps > Setup policies, then assign the policy to the users you license. See Use setup policies to manage, install and pin agents and apps for users.
3. Get the app to users
Section titled “3. Get the app to users”There are two ways TeamsPIM reaches a user:
- Automatically, when you assign a licence. Assigning a TeamsPIM licence in the Customer Admin Portal installs the app in that person’s Teams and the bot sends a welcome message. This only works once step 1 allows the app for them. See Assign licences.
- From the Teams store. Users can search for TeamsPIM in Apps in Teams and add it themselves.
If someone installs TeamsPIM from the store before your subscription is active, the bot’s welcome message tells them: “Cards start arriving once your organization’s TeamsPIM subscription is active, your tenant is connected, and a license is assigned to you.”
If the app did not install for someone
Section titled “If the app did not install for someone”- Check that step 1 allows TeamsPIM for that person.
- In the Customer Admin Portal, turn the person’s licence off and on again on the Licenses page to re-save it. This retries the install.
- If it still does not appear, ask the person to add TeamsPIM from the Teams store.
What your users do next
Section titled “What your users do next”Point them at the tour of the app and Request a role. Approvers should read Approve or deny a request.
